One of Kashmir’s most beautiful offbeat valleys โ Habba Khatoon peak, the Kishanganga river and pure wilderness.
Gurez Valley, near the Line of Control, is a hidden Himalayan gem โ the pyramid-shaped Habba Khatoon peak, the Kishanganga river and traditional log-wood villages. The drive over Razdan Pass is spectacular. Because it’s remote, a reliable vehicle and an experienced driver matter โ exactly what we specialise in. (Note: permits/ID may be required; we guide you.)

Gurez lies roughly 120 to 125 km north of Srinagar, reached through Bandipora and over the Razdan Pass. The drive normally takes 5 to 6 hours each way, which is why Gurez works best as an overnight trip rather than a single day run. The valley sits along the Kishanganga river, with Dawar as the main village and the Habba Khatoon peak as its landmark.
The Razdan Pass is usually open from around May to October, and heavy snow closes it in winter. Even in season, weather can change quickly on the pass, so an early start matters. We check road status before departure and tell you if conditions look unsafe.
Gurez is close to the Line of Control, so travellers pass through army checkpoints and should carry valid photo identity. Requirements for Indian and foreign nationals differ and can change, so we confirm the current position before your travel date.
The road is narrow in stretches, so smaller vehicles are easier: the 9 seater Tempo (from โน6,000/day), the 12 seater Tempo (from โน6,000/day) or the 10 seater Urbania (from โน7,000/day). Larger seaters are possible; we will tell you honestly if your group size suits the route.
